4 Questions to Ask When Hiring An Interior Designer

You don't know what you don't know, right? And how are you supposed to know what to expect out of your designer if you've never worked with one before? We're making it simple for ya...here are 4 important questions to ask before hiring an interior designer:

1. What is your process?

Understanding the design process is crucial to setting expectations.

We make sure that our process is heavily communicated before starting, and throughout every step of the project.

2. How do you charge?

Designers will charge either hourly, a flat “per project” fee, or a hybrid of the two.

We send a fee proposal before beginning a project, that will detail both our fees and when you can expect to pay them.

3. How many revisions do I get?

This ties into fees as well. If you’re on a flat fee, there might be a maximum amount of revisions you can make to the plans. With hourly, all those hours can sneak up on you.

We make sure that our clients are aware of any possible implications a revision can entail, and are very thorough in the first round to prevent many rounds of revisions.

4. Will you be managing the whole project?

There are a LOT of things we manage during the process, but some things are out of our scope. By setting clear expectations, you can eliminate a lot of miscommunication throughout the process.
